Year 10 Marcellin students were immersed in the Construction industry by using a wide range of machinery and tools in the Construction workshop to create wooden chopping boards and toolboxes.

This week was Chisholm, Chavoin, Mitchell and Faulkner's turn to enjoy Year 7 Camp. The students have been busy with archery, swimming and horse riding at Wirraway Homestead.

Last week we held our very first Extra Expo to showcase all the extracurricular activities available to our students.

🍴 Our Stage 2 Food class kicked off this year with some dishes we think even Gordon Ramsay would be proud of!
🥦 Students were asked to audition their creativity and knowledge of food and flavour from last year. In pairs, they created a gourmet dish from a preselected shopping list with NO recipe. 
🧅 Students were given the same ingredients and were asked to choose three additional ingredients to customise their dish to make it different from other students

🖼️ The works of three Visual Arts students of 2022 were chosen for the SACE Art Show this year. We congratulate Molly Field, Holly Adey and Verity Selfe for being recognised for their hard work and dedication.

'My aim was to convey specific emotions that connected with an audience, whilst displaying my abilities through work. The concept for my work was inspired by the people around me, using them as both my inspiration and my muse I could focus on expressing the emotions within a portrait.'

🍎 Holly Adey (’22) - Decay
'The first part of the body of work is personally relevant as it portrays themes of growth, loss and maturing in life as well as the balance of energy. These themes are relevant to me as a growing teenager and the learning process I am undertaking as I grow into an adult.'

We are seeking expressions of interest from our current College parents and Old Scholars to consider joining our Board. 

The Cardijn College Board acts in an advisory capacity to the College leadership in its school management role on behalf of the Archdiocese of Adelaide under the direction of Catholic Education SA. 

The Board meets seven times a year, usually on a Wednesday evening. There are subcommittees that meet regularly and that meet occasionally.

From the Principal

Over the past two weeks I’ve had the opportunity to visit the Year 7 camps. At Cardijn we offer what is known as a ‘holistic’ education. In order to fully develop young people we need to provide learning opportunities both within and beyond the classroom. These camps are a good example of moving beyond the school setting to help develop a range of life skills as the students begin their time in the Middle Schooling program.

There was certainly a great deal of energy evident at the camps! Certain social and organisational skills varied greatly, but this had little impact on the fun being had! It seems the highlights were the horse riding and the development of new friendships. Such experiences and lifelong memories cannot happen without the generous and capable presence of our staff. In such an environment our staff give of their time and expertise to ensure that these significant activities are well run and safe for our young people. Whilst the staff of ‘Wirraway’ lead the activities, the Cardijn staff are ever present to ensure all goes well and I thank them on behalf of the College.

Finally, I wish our Galilee Sacramental students and their families every blessing as they begin their ‘sacramental journeys’ this Saturday evening at the Galilee Mass at 5.30pm. As a Catholic school this is a very significant aspect of the faith formation of our students which is another important aspect of our holistic educational philosophy.
